Yellow Sequoia is a gamification consultancy based in California. We help our clients make their learning FUN by introducing games, simulations and gamification elements to the engagement process. Our clients include community colleges, universities, government organizations, non-profit and for-profit corporations. (see current projects)
Our philosophy was developed by Zef after his tenure as a Senior Teaching Fellow at the University of Leeds. Zef spent 6 months building his PhD hypotheses – Games are the best pedagogical tool for teaching entrepreneurship. However finding the right first supervisor at Leeds proved elusive and he decided that starting a business might be a faster way to test his hypotheses. Coming from cold and rainy Britain, Zef wanted a company name that represented sunny California and the majestic Sequoia trees. This is how Yellow Sequoia was born.
As our practice based research has progressed, we have realized that gamification applies to ever widening range of engagement situations, both in the learning process but also in marketing and sales. Our updated hypotheses is – Gamification can address most engagement challenges in the learning process.

Zef holds a Master of Science in Design & Manufacture with Distinction from De Montfort University; an MBA from Leicester Business School specializing in Marketing and a Bachelor of Commerce specializing in Accounting & Advertising from RA Podar College at University of Mumbai. In addition he is also a proud graduate of NIFT, New Delhi with a Post Graduate Diploma in Design & Technology.
