Yellow Sequoia wins a 2 year UK-India Education Research Initiative (UKIERI) project to run social enterprise courses in India
The UKIERI recently announced our successful 2012 bid for the Project titled - A collaboration between fashion and education: Embedding social enterprise within the unorganized retail supply chain to foster entrepreneurship

Our UK team is led by Andre Mostert from the University of East London; and the India team is led by Dr. Tarun Panwar from the Pearl Institute of Design, New Delhi.

Delivering pioneering social enterprise curriculum using the award winning British simulation, SimVenture, this project will deliver social enterprise training in collaboration between the UK and Indian partners. The aim would be to embed the model within both UK and Indian partner institutions by a train the trainer approach and distance support. A link will be created between the Fashion industries of UK and India through following a product that is sourced locally and exported to the EU specifically the United Kingdom.

Workshop with 40 micro-entrepreneurs

I recently  ran a workshop for 40 micro-entrepreneurs in New Delhi. As the India lead consultant for Yellow Sequoia I am constantly called upon to share our knowledge on simulations and start up. This particular workshop was interesting because majority of the participants were female and ran their businesses single handed. They came to this workshop to gain a better understanding of small business management, especially in  the areas of finance like budgeting, costing and prices.

The enthusiasm and energy that these entrepreneurs shown in the workshop  were really impressive.  They are running variety of business ranging from catering, beauty salons, garments etc.  I also introduced the idea of learning small business through innovative ways. Workshop  has helped them to understand the essence of entrepreneurship spirit and also the importance of budgeting.
